SUMMARY

Patience sits on a rooftop with Midnight, gazing thoughtfully at the Catwoman mask. Patience announces that somebody killed her, and she needs to figure out who and why they did it.

Clad in an all-new Catwoman outfit, Patience struts along another rooftop before diving forward and leaping acrobatically through the city, just like a cat. Patience arrives at a nightclub and overhears Armando, one of Laurel's thugs, confirm that he has "dealt with" Slavicky. Patience follows Armando into a lively club, where she orders a White Russian with no ingredients but cream, before hitting the dancefloor for some violent dancing.

Eventually, Patience tosses Armando out of the club and battles him in an alley before interrogating him about her death. Armando admits that something is wrong with Beau-line and the woman he killed knew too much about it.

Patience travels back to Hedare Laboratories, where she comes across Slavicky's dead body. A janitor spots her and sounds the alarm as she escapes.

ANALYSIS

Now that Patience has gained special Catwoman powers (or at least believes she has), she has the ability to find out who killed her and why; throughout this process, however, she demonstrates remarkable disregard for the well-being of those around her. While many other comic book heroes bestowed with special powers enjoy making society a better place -- even if they have personal demons -- Patience instead decides to go clubbing. (Just like a cat.)

With renewed purpose, now that she has explicitly stated her mission statement for the remainder of the film, Patience goes out on the town wearing a completely different leather outfit than the one Sally and Lance bought her and a completely different cat mask than the one Ophelia Powers gave her. Surely, the omission of any costume element that actually concealed part of her body is in the spirit of allowing Patience more flexibility, as her computer-generated body double prances around the city with all the grace of a bookish woman fed lies by a nutty cat lady.

Indeed, as she sidles up to the bar and orders a "White Russian, no ice, hold the vodka, hold the Kahlúa," Patience is apparently not sufficiently catlike to realize that cats are unable to digest lactose and should never drink milk or cream. Nevertheless, the bartender grins in delight, perhaps preemptively amused by all the diarrhea Patience is going to have later tonight. On the other hand, if he's grinning because he plans on charging Patience full price for her drink, perhaps he is less amused when Patience turns around and leaves without paying.

The buoyant patrons on the dance floor are immediately aware that Patience is bad news, however, as she brandishes a leather whip -- stolen from a nearby man who somehow got inside with it -- and takes over the club. After toppling an innocent woman with a mirrored panel and whipping another man as he dives out of her way, Patience strikes several catlike poses amid flashing lights and a surprising lack of security guards throwing her out of the building.

Pinned to the ground outside, Armando claims to know nothing about the woman he killed at Hedare Laboratories; considering he has no idea who's interrogating him, however, the confirmation that he killed a woman at all is quite a risky confession. Furthermore, continuing to plead ignorance, Armando offhandedly throws in the revelation that something is wrong with Beau-line, and the woman was killed for finding out whatever it was. With the disclosure of these multi-million dollar secrets to the first person who bothers to ask, Armando officially steals the prize from Patience for the worst employee Hedare Cosmetics has ever seen.
